How do I set up my BMO DepositEdge scanner on Windows?

If you enrolled in the DepositEdge service before June 16, 2025 and you haven't had a service upgrade since that date, please follow this link to find the right steps.

Mac user? How to set up your BMO DepositEdge scanner on macOS

If you have administrator rights on a Windows computer, you can install and register your DepositEdge scanner. Here’s how: 

Step 1: Installing WebScan 

WebScan is the software used by DepositEdge to act as an interface for your scanner. Here’s how to install it: 

  1. In Online Banking for Business, select the Payments & Receivables tab. 
  2. Under “DepositEdge', select BMO DepositEdge
  3. In the DepositEdge platform, select the Help tab and then Download WebScan

  4. Wait for the WebScan file to download.  
  5. Once it’s downloaded, open the file to launch the WebScan setup wizard. Select Next
  6. You’ll get a prompt asking where WebScan should be installed on your computer. Choose a folder and select Next.  
  7. The WebScan installer will ask you to confirm installation. Select Next
  8. You’ll see a confirmation message once installation is complete. Select Close

Now that WebScan is installed on your computer, go to your system tray, located at the lower right-hand corner of your screen, and select the up arrow. Look for a blue circle with the letters “WS.” This icon shows that WebScan is running.

You’ll also notice that a WebScan icon has been added to your desktop. Please, keep this shortcut for easy access in the future. 


Step 2: Installing the scanner software 

Now that you’ve installed WebScan, you can install the drivers for your scanner. Here’s how: 

  1. In Online Banking for Business, select the Payments & Receivables tab. 
  2. Under “DepositEdge', select BMO DepositEdge
  3. In the DepositEdge platform, select the Help tab and then Download Scanner Drivers
  4. Select your scanner from the drop-down list. 
  5. Wait for the applicable driver file to download. 
  6. Once it’s downloaded, open the file to launch the driver setup wizard. Select Next
  7. When prompted, select Install. 
  8. You’ll see a confirmation message once installation is complete. Select Finish.   

You’ve successfully installed your DepositEdge scanner on your Windows computer. 

 

Step 3: Making sure the correct scanner is assigned to your profile 

Before attempting to use your scanner with DepositEdge, please make sure that the correct scanner is saved in your DepositEdge user profile. Here’s how: 

  1. In Online Banking for Business, select the Payments & Receivables tab. 
  2. Under “DepositEdge', select BMO DepositEdge. 
  3. In the DepositEdge platform, select your profile icon in the top-right of the screen. 
  4. Select User Profile.

  5. In the “Scanner” field, confirm the correct scanner is assigned. Note: If this field is blank, select your scanner from the dropdown list and select Save.

Now that you’ve installed WebScan and the scanner software, and confirmed the correct scanner is assigned to your profile, you’re ready for your first deposit.
