How do I approve or reject a pending deposit in BMO DepositEdge?

If you enrolled in the DepositEdge service before June 16, 2025 and you haven't had a service upgrade since that date, please follow this link to find the right steps.

Deposits only need to be approved if “Deposit Approval” feature is enabled. Otherwise, deposits are automatically finalized. 

If you’re a designated DepositEdge approver, you’ll be notified by email when there’s an open deposit awaiting your approval. Here’s how to handle it: 

  1. In Online Banking for Business, select the Payments & Receivables tab.  
  2. Under “DepositEdge”, select BMO DepositEdge.  
  3. On the BMO DepositEdge home page, select the Approvals tab. 
  4. By default, you’ll see a list of pending deposits. On the left side of your screen, you can enter search criteria to filter the list. 
    Note: Depending on your permissions you may be limited to merchant deposits or consumer deposits. |

    Approve or reject an individual deposit 
  5. To approve or reject an individual deposit, select it from the list. This will open the “Deposit Details” page, where you can see the individual items that make up the deposit.   
  6. Review the information in the “Review Reasons”, “Deposit Information” and “Comments” sections. 
  7. When you’ve finished reviewing, select Approve or Reject. 
  8. Enter a comment and select OK. 
     

Approve multiple deposits 

  1. To approve multiple deposits at once, select the relevant checkboxes. 
  2. At the bottom of the list, select Approve
  3. When prompted, enter a comment that will be applied to all the deposits you've selected. 
  4. Select OK. 

Once you’ve finished reviewing your pending deposits, approved deposits will be processed. Rejected deposits will be sent back to the user who created them to be modified or deleted. How to modify a rejected deposit in BMO DepositEdge
