How do I use the BMO Message Center?

The way you use the Message Center isn’t much different from any other email application: you can read, reply and compose.

Read protected email

Whenever we send you a protected email, you’ll receive a BMO Financial Group Notification at the address you used to register your Message Center account. Protected emails will remain in the Message Center for 90 days before they’re automatically deleted.

  1. In your regular inbox, open the BMO Financial Group Notification email.
Note:  If you receive a suspicious email claiming it’s from BMO, do not reply or click any links. Instead, report the suspicious email to online.fraud@bmo.com immediately. How to tell if an email is a scam
  2. In the email, select Open Message. This will take you to the BMO Message Center sign in page.
  3. Sign in with the email address and password you used to register your account.
  4. Under the Inbox tab, choose the message you want to read.

Reply to protected email

Replying to protected emails in the BMO Message Center keeps your information secure. You can reply to any BMO email. You can also reply, forward or copy emails to non-BMO recipients who were included on the original message.  Here’s how:

  1. In the Message Center, select the Inbox tab and choose the email you want to read. Remember, messages stay in this inbox for up to 90 days. After that, they’re automatically deleted.
  2. Depending on the conversation, select either Reply, Reply All or Forward
Note: You can’t forward or copy an email to a non-BMO address that wasn’t on the original message.
  3. Enter your message. You can also attach one or more files by dragging each file into the “Attachments” field. Or, select Attach File and use the file browser.
Note: Attachments can be up to 30MB.
  4. Select Send.

After you send an email, a “Message sent” notification appears. You can find a copy of your message under the “Sent Mail” tab for 90 days.

 Compose protected email

It’s important that you use the Message Center any time you need to share confidential information with us. Here’s how:
