What is International Bank Account Number (IBAN)?

IBAN is an international standard for identifying bank accounts across borders.  It was developed to facilitate payments within the European Union and, as such, Bank of Montreal accounts do not have an associated IBAN.

If you require the IBAN in order to send a wire to someone in a European country, the receiver of the payment would provide you with that information.
