What do the different wire payment statuses mean?
You can view the status of your wire payments, templates and investigations. Here’s what each status means.
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Pending approval | Before we can start processing your wire payment, someone at your company must approve it. The user who created the wire payment can’t be the same user who approves it. Once approved, you can check the Manage Wire Payment page to view the status of your wire payment and ensure it changes from “Pending approval” to “Scheduled”, “Released” and finally “Confirmed” before the cut-off time. |
| Scheduled | Payment is scheduled to be processed after 6 a.m. ET on its value date. If you created a wire with today’s value date, use the Wire Activity Report to confirm the status has changed to “Released” or “Failed”. The change in status may take up to 60 minutes to complete. Otherwise, check the Manage Wire Payment page on the set value date to ensure that the wire status changes to “Released” then “Confirmed” before the wire cut-off time. |
| Released | Wire has been approved and the bank will attempt to process it. Once final validations have been made by the payment system, the status will show as “Confirmed” or “Failed” in the Manage Wire Payment page. The change in status may take up to 60 minutes to complete. |
| Confirmed | Your wire payment has been successfully processed and the funds are on their way to the beneficiary bank. The funds for the wire payment have been withdrawn from the selected funding account. |
| Failed | Wire has failed and will not be sent to the beneficiary. For more information on the reason for failure, check the Wire Activity Report or the Wire Import Report if it was submitted via import. The wire will need to be resubmitted after the reason for failure has been corrected. |
| Rejected | The processing bank has rejected your payment. This could be due to funding, account information or another issue. You’ll get the funds back in a separate transaction, typically within 5–10 business days. Please try sending the funds again with a new wire payment. |
| Expired | The wire payment wasn’t approved before the cut-off time. You’ll need to resubmit the payment with a new value date. Wire payment cut-off times |
| Deleted | A user at the company deleted the wire payment before it was sent for processing. Check the Wire Activity Report for details on which user initiated the action and a possible reason for the deletion. How to see who has created, approved or modified a wire payment |
Wire payment template statuses
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Pending approval | Your template must be approved by a user at your company. Anyone who created or modified the template can’t be the same user who approves it. |
| Rejected | A user at your company rejected the creation of the template. It can be modified and resubmitted for approval. |
| Rejected by bank | The bank rejected the creation of the template. Check the details of the template for the reason. The template can be modified and resubmitted for approval. |
| Active | Template is active and can be used individually or included in a template group for faster set up of multiple wires. |
Wire payment investigation statuses
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Pending approval | Investigation must be approved by a user at your company who did not modify nor create it. Once approved, the investigation will be sent to the bank for review and the status will change to “Opened”. |
| Rejected | A user at your company rejected the creation or modification of the investigation. It may be modified and resubmitted for approval. |
| Opened | Investigation has been sent to, but not yet acknowledged by, the bank. It may take up to two business days to be acknowledged at which time the status will change to “Under Investigation”. |
| Under investigation | The bank has updated information on the investigation. At any time, you can view the details or modify the investigation to provide additional information to the bank. The status will remain “Under Investigation” as the bank provides update and will change to “Closed” when completed. |
| Closed | Investigation has been completed. |
