How do I set up direct deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)?
You can let the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) deposit directly into your preferred BMO account. You’ll need:
- The legal name of your company. This must match the CRA’s records.
- Your company’s 15-digit business number (BN). This must be a CRA Payroll Account (RP) and must match the CRA’s records. How do I find my business number?
- To be the owner or a business representative with Level 3 authorization (i.e. delegate, update and view authority) with the CRA. What is Level 3 authorization?
Here’s how to register:
- In Online Banking for Business, select the Account Information tab.
- Under “CRA Direct Deposit”, choose Set up CRA Direct Deposit.
Note: Only Primary Customer Administrators (PCAs) will see this link.
- Confirm your role in the company and provide your consent to set up direct deposit. Then, select Continue.
- Choose the BMO account you want to register for direct deposit.
- Enter your 15-digit CRA Business Number (BN).
Note: Your BN must be a CRA Payroll Account (RP) and match the CRA’s records. How do I find my business number?
- Enter your Legal Company Name.
Note: The legal company name must match the CRA’s records. You can find this name in your CRA My Business Account.
- Enter your name and select Continue.
Note: Your name must match the name on record with the CRA.
- Review your details. If everything looks correct, select Complete.
Success! Your registration has been forwarded to the CRA. For status updates, please contact the CRA at 1-833-966-2099 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. local time) or sign in to your CRA My Business Account.
