How do I install my RSA SecurID soft token on Mac? 

To install your new RSA SecurID®* soft token on your Mac®†, follow these steps:

Step 1: Install the RSA SecurID software
Step 2: Import your token
Step 3: Create your PIN

 

 

 

Step 1: Install the RSA SecurID software 

This guide is right for you if you have a computer running Mac OS Big Sur 11.0 or later and have received your SecurID token. How to order a new SecurID token
Note: You’ll need administrator privileges to install the required RSA SecurID Token software.

How to install

  1. Download the most recent version of the software from the RSA website: RSA SecurID Software Token for macOS

  2. In your “Downloads” folder, open RSASecurIDMac423.dmg. 
  3. Double-click the RSASecurIDTokenAutoMac.pkg installation file.
  4. Follow the installation instructions.

Success! You now have the RSA SecurID Token software installed on your Mac computer. You can now safely delete the .dmg and .pkg installation files.

Step 2: Import your token 

For this step, you'll need to have the RSA SecurID software installed and the following 2 emails we sent you:

  • “Your BMO Soft Token: Installation File”
  • “Your BMO Soft Token: Import Password”

Because they’ve been sent with the “PROTECT” encryption feature enabled, follow the link to the BMO Message Center to sign in and view them. How do I sign up for the BMO Message Center 

How to import a soft token

  1. Open the email labeled “Your BMO Soft Token: Installation File”.
  2. Double-click the .sdtid file attachment. This should automatically start the RSA SecurID Token software you installed in step 1.
    Note: Depending on your email service, the file may first be downloaded into your “Downloads” folder. In that case, just open the file from there.
  3. When prompted by the RSA SecurID Token software, enter the password from the email labeled “Your BMO Soft Token: Import Password”.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Once your token is imported, you’ll have a chance to rename it. If you’re happy with the default name, select OK to complete step 2.
    Note: To rename your token, select Change Name. Then enter a new name shorter than 24 characters and click OK.

Success! Your token is now securely stored on your Mac computer. For your protection, we recommend deleting the email containing the .sdtid file attachment.

Step 3: Create your PIN

You’ll need to keep both your RSA SecurID software and web browser open for this final step.

Let’s start in your web browser:

  1. Sign in to Online Banking for Business.
  2. When asked for a SecurID passcode, open the RSA SecurID Token software you installed in step 1.
    Note: If you’re not prompted for your passcode after signing in, you can trigger it manually:
  • In Online Banking for Business, select the Administration tab. 
  • Click My Profile.
  • At the bottom of the page, choose Create SecurID PIN.

Now go to the RSA SecurID Token software:

  1. Leave the main field blank and select Submit.
  2. When a code is displayed, click Copy.
    Note: It may take several seconds to generate the code, so please only click Submit once.

Back in your web browser:

  1. Right-click into the passcode field. Select Paste, then click Confirm.
  2. Create and confirm your new PIN. Select Confirm.
    Note: Your PIN needs to be six characters long, numeric and can’t begin with a zero.

Success! You’re now ready to use your soft token.
 

Next time you’re asked for a SecurID passcode:

  1. Open your RSA SecurID Token software.
  2. Enter your PIN, then click the arrow button.
  3. Copy the passcode into Online Banking for Business before it expires.
