What are the user roles for BMO DepositEdge?
If you enrolled in the DepositEdge service before March 6, 2026 and you haven't had a service upgrade since that date, please follow this link to find the right steps.
User roles determine what a user can and can’t do within BMO DepositEdge. DepositEdge users often have multiple user roles.
Here’s how they work:
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| MerchantApprover | Can review, approve and reject deposits before submission. |
| MerchantDepositor / MerchantDirectURLDepositor | Can scan cheques and create deposits. |
| MerchantOperator / MerchantDirectURLOperator | Can scan cheques and create deposits, but deposits have to be approved before they’re processed. |
| MerchantReviewer | Can generate reports and research their own deposits. |
| MerchantAdministrator | Can perform authorized administrative functions, such as adding and deleting users. |
